Harvest Moon

Were halfway through the month of October. The golden Harvest Moon was rising yesterday evening and reminded us of the golden heritage Jesus has called us all to enjoy.

Weve already announced this in two other forums, but well make it official here: the Area Camporee will be at Nameless Valley Ranch, not at Inks Lake this year. The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife gives priority for use of state parks to military and military support organizations. One such organization is holding an extended weekend of training just ahead of the Veterans Day weekend, which just happens to be when we were planning to be at Inks Lake. They got the space; we got the boot.

However, our God is just as willing to meet us all at NVR as at Inks Lake. And on the bright side, the cost for attendance has gone DOWN to $15 per person. Day passes are still $5 per person.

Well see you there!

In other news, any clubs that have not yet gotten Area Coordinator signatures on their paperwork can show up at the North Side Honor Fair (at Austin South SDA Church) to get that signature. Failing that, youll need to contact a coordinator and arrange to meet up.

See you on the trail!

WHAT IS PATHFINDERS?

Pathfinders is a faith-based ministry for youth ages 10-16, that involves youth in a holistic environment, training the body, mind and spirit. It is designed to help its membership to enter an active role in the church, community and world, and stresses the values of fellowship, worship outreach and service. It challenges its members, helps them identify their unique gifts, shows them where they are needed in service to God and man and brings them to an understanding of the love of God and the power of His Word. It is open to all who wish to join and are of age; those older than 16 are welcome to join as staff members, supporting the youth through service and leadership by example.

PURPOSES OF PATHFINDERS

To LEAD its membership, both young and old, into a growing and redemptive relationship with God
To BUILD its youth into responsible and mature individuals
To INVOLVE its members in active, selfless service to God, to the church and to the community

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED IN PATHFINDERS?

Step 1: Find a local Pathfinder Club. If you're in the Central Texas Area, you can check out our Forums for the locations of clubs in your area. If not, contact your local conference to find out where the Pathfinders are located. At last count, there are over two million members in Pathfinder Clubs worldwide, so there should be a Club near you.

Step 2: Attend a meeting and speak with the staff and other Pathfinders. You'll find that Clubs are as diverse as their membership; some focus on crafts, some on camping, some on vocational skills. All of them, however, put Christ as the center of their existence, and make the Pledge and Law a lifetime commitment.

If you have any questions, contact one of the CTX Area Coordinators.
